Abstract:To investigate the thermodynamic properties of high-strength steel wire under high temperatures encountered in fire, the mass density, specific heat capacity, and thermal conductivity of high-strength steel wire with nominal yield strengths of 1 670,1 860,1 960,and 2 160 MPa within the temperature range of 20 to 1 200℃were studied using the alcohol displacement method, differential scanning calorimetry with heat flow, and the laser flash method.Additionally, empirical models for specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity were proposed. The results indicate that the mass density of the high-strength steel wire is 7 534 kg/m³.The variation of specific heat capacity of high-strength steel wire with temperature follows a similar pattern to that of low-carbon steel and specified standards, but its peak occurs at a higher temperature. The thermal conductivity of high-strength steel wire is significantly lower than that of most low-carbon steel, but the difference diminishes as the temperature increases.
