Abstract:[Objective]Aiming at the meshing error caused by the complex tooth surface of the bevel gears and limitations in machining technology,a tooth surface design method for bevel gears based on spherical involute was proposed.[Methods]Firstly,an arbitrary planar curve was transformed into a basic cone tooth trace, the tooth surface was constructed combined with spherical involute to realize rapid modeling of the bevel gears with arbitrary tooth profiles, and the parabolic bevel gear was taken as an example for verification and analysis.Secondly, interference inspection was carried out on the parabolic bevel gear.Unigraphics(UG)motion simulation was used to observe the meshing state of the bevel gear and verify whether its meshing state under no-load condition was consistent with that of a fully conjugate tooth surface, and the gear contact area was preliminarily observed by digital rolling inspection.Finally,Unigraphics-computer aided manufacturing(UG-CAM)was employed for simulation machining to verify the machinability of the spherical involute bevel gears.[Results]The results show that the proposed method is of great significance for improving the modeling efficiency of the bevel gears and ensuring the accuracy of the model.
