Abstract:[Objective]An aero spiral bevel gear system was taken as the research object. The purpose was to reduce the resonance amplitude of the gear with the pitch diameter vibration mode.Damping ring was designed, the vibration reduction effect was analyzed, and then the test was done again to verify the effect.[Methods]Firstly, contact modal of the bevel gear system was analyzed and resonance speeds were predicted.By comparing with tests, the dangerous vibration modes were determined and their corresponding modal displacement and neutral radius were obtained.Secondly, according to the principle of damping ring vibration reduction, the damping ring's structure was designed, and the axial vibration displacement, radial vibration displacement and optimal dissipation energy of the damping ring were obtained. After that, the curve graph between the resonance amplitude coefficient Q-factor and the vibration displacement was drawn to evaluate the vibration reduction effect. Finally, the damping ring was applied to the test.[Results]The test proves that the damping ring designed based on this method reduces the pitch diameter resonance amplitude of the system by 50%.This method provides valuable reference for the vibration reduction design of aero spiral bevel gears.
