Abstract:Objective:To design an insulin pen voice prompt device for elderly diabetic patients during self-injection,providing a reference for enhancing patients'insulin injection knowledge and behaviors, improving blood glucose control, and enhancing quality of life. Methods:Using a convenience sampling method,a total of 84 elderly diabetic patients hospitalized in the endocrinology department of a tertiary hospital in Hangzhou from June 2024 to January 2025 were selected as study subjects. They were divided into an observation group and a control group(42 cases each)based on admission order. The observation group used the insulin pen voice prompt device, while the control group received traditional health education.Insulin injection knowledge-behavior scores, blood glucose levels(fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin),and quality of life scores were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results:All 84 patients completed the study. After the intervention, the observation group demonstrated higher insulin injection knowledge-behavior scores than the control group(P<0.05),superior control of fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin levels(P<0.05),and higher quality of life scores(P<0.05).Conclusions:The insulin pen voice prompt device designed in this study effectively improves insulin injection knowledge and behaviors in elderly diabetic patients, aids in better blood glucose management, and enhances their quality of life.
