Summary of best evidence for home management of postoperative pain following ambulatory pediatric penile repair

Abstract:Objective:To integrate and summarize the best evidence for home management of pain after ambulatory pediatric penile repair,providing a reference for clinical nursing practice.Methods::Domestic and international databases were systematically searched for literature related to home pain management after ambulatory pediatric penile repair from inception until May 30,2023.Results:A total of 14 articles were included,comprising 1 clinical decision document,2 guidelines,1 evidence summary,6 systematic reviews,1 expert consensus,2 randomized controlled trials,and 1 cohort study.Best evidence was summarized into 7 aspects:developing a pain management plan,pain recognition and assessment,pharmacological pain control methods,non-pharmacological pain control methods,wound and catheter care,health education for children and their parents,and continuity of care,totaling 29 evidence items.Conclusion:The summarized best evidence for home management of pain after ambulatory pediatric penile repair is scientific and can provide a theoretical basis for clinical pain management by nursing staff.
