Abstract:Objective:To analyze the status quo and correlation between stigma and symptom distress in patients after radical prostatectomy(RP),and to explore the influencing factors of stigma. Methods:A total of 203 patients after radical prostatectomy were investigated using the general questionnaire, the Social Impact Scale and the simplified Extended Prostate Cancer Composite Index Scale. Results:The average score of the stigma item of patients after radical prostatectomy was(2.09±0.54)points.The average score of the symptom distress items was(1.38±0.34)points,among which sexual function and urinary incontinence distress were more severe. The symptom distress of the patients was positively correlated with the stigma of illness(r=0.453,P<0.001).The results of multiple linear regression showed that age and symptom distress were the main influencing factors of stigma(P<0.001).Conclusion:After radical prostatectomy, the stigma of patients is at a medium level, the symptoms of sexual function and urinary incontinence are at a medium to high level, and the stigma level is higher in younger patients and those with more severe symptoms.Medical staff should enhance their attention to the stigma of illness among young patients, take measures to improve the management of symptom distress, and reduce patients'stigma of illness.
