Analysis of the potential profile of death coping ability of nursing students and research on its influencing factors

Abstract:Objective:Based on Mplus 8.3,to classify the potential categories of death coping abilities of nursing students,and analyze the influencing factors.Methods:A total of 579 nursing students in Tangshan City were conveniently selected as the survey subjects and investigated using the general information questionnaire and the Death Coping Ability Scale.Results:The score of the Death Coping Ability Scale for nursing students was(101.06±27.10).The potential profile analysis identified two potential categories:the group with insufficient death coping ability(63.73%)and the group with outstanding death coping ability(36.27%).The results of multivariate analysis showed that the main caregivers of minors,the experience of attending funerals,whether having witnessed or personally experienced(except for the medical environment)seriously life-threatening events,and physical and mental conditions were the influencing factors of the potential profile of the death coping ability of nursing students(all P<0.05).Conclusions:There is heterogeneity in the death coping ability of nursing students.Relevant colleges and universities can,based on different potential categories of death coping ability of nursing students,cultivate their correct understanding and cognition of the value of life and actively build the curriculum system of life and death education.
