Mediating effect of clinical communication ability of nursing interns between humanistic care ability and professional identity

Abstract:Objective:To explore the mediating effect of clinical communication ability of nursing students between humanistic care ability and professional identity during a clinical internship.Methods:A convenient sampling method was used to select 320 intern nursing students in the clinical.The Humanistic Care Ability Scale,Clinical Communication Ability Scale,and Professional Identity Scale were used to investigate.Results:The professional identity of nursing interns was positively correlated with clinical communication ability(r=0.609,P<0.01)and humanistic care ability(r=0.442,P<0.01).The clinical communication ability was positively correlated with humanistic care ability(r=0.378,P<0.01).The indirect effect of humanistic care ability on professional identity through clinical communication ability was 0.205,accounting for 44%of the total effect.Conclusion:The clinical communication ability of nursing interns played a mediating role between humanistic care ability and professional identity,which could provide new ideas for improving the professional identity of nursing students.
