Abstract:Objective:To systematically retrieve, evaluate, and synthesize evidence on positioning management for critically ill patients undergoing prone position mechanical ventilation, providing a basis for healthcare professionals in intensive care units to implement prone positioning strategies. Methods:A top-down literature quality assessment was conducted by searching databases and websites for clinical decision-making articles, best practices, guidelines, expert consensuses, systematic reviews,Meta-analyses,and evidence summaries published from January 1,2012,to May 24,2023.Appropriate literature evaluation tools were selected, and the screening process was independently performed by researchers. Results:A total of 14 articles were included, comprising 2 clinical decision-making articles,5 guidelines,1 systematic review,4 expert consensuses, and 2 evidence summaries. The evidence was synthesized into three categories, support surface usage, prophylactic dressing application, and positioning handling.A total of 20 best evidence statements for positioning management in critically ill patients undergoing prone position mechanical ventilation were summarized. Conclusions:The findings are highly operational and clinically significant, offering a scientific foundation for developing clinical management protocols and advancing nursing practice.
