Influencing factors of mental health literacy in the elderly:a scoping review

Abstract:Objective:To conduct a scoping review of research on the level of mental health literacy and its influencing factors on the elderly,and provide a theoretical basis for intervention in their mental health literacy.Methods:According to the methodological framework of scope review,we searched Cochrane Library,PubMed,Web of Science,China Biomedical Literature Database,CNKI,Wanfang Database,VIP and other Chinese and English databases with the method of combining subject words and free words,and the time was limited to April 20,2023.After the observational studies on mental health literacy of the elderly and its influencing factors were included,the literature were extracted,analyzed and summarized.Results:A total of 1 252 literatures were searched,and 8 were included,with a total of 2 482 elderly people.It involves 19 influencing factors such as age,marital status,educational level,economic conditions and social support,which are summarized into 2 categories:demographic factors and environmental factors.Conclusions:The mental health literacy level of the elderly is lower.The main factors affecting the mental health literacy level of the elderly are educational level and place of residence,The secondary factors were age,marriage,economic conditions,social support and social network size,while other controversial influencing factors needed further study and discussion in the future.
