A review of the scope of measurement tools for oral health literacy

Abstract:Objective:To conduct a scoping review of oral health literacy measurement tools,so as to provide reference for the selection and development of oral health literacy measurement tools.Methods:The literature on oral health literacy measurement tools were retrieved from CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,SinoMed,PubMed,Web of Science,Scopus,EMBASE,and CINAHL until December 2022.Two researchers independently screened the literature and extracted data.The COSMIN bias risk assessment checklist was used to assess the risk of bias in the included literature.Results:A total of 44 articles were included in this study,involving 18 oral health literacy development tools.The measurement tools can be divided into three types:word recognition tools,reading comprehension and calculation tools,and content knowledge tools.Conclusions:There are many measurement tools for oral health literacy,but the measurement attributes need to be further verified.The studies can develop or verify oral health literacy measurement tools with low risk of bias and high applicability based on Chinas national conditions in the future.
