Abstract:Objective:To understand the research status quo and trends of remote intensive care units(ICU)in abroad and provide reference for the implementation of remote ICUs in China. Methods:Literature related to remote ICU was retrieved from the Web of Science(WOS)core collection database from the establishment of the database to July 20,2023.Cite Space 6.2.R4 software was used to conduct bibliometric map analysis. Results:A total of 256 articles were included in this study, showing an upward trend in the number of published articles, with with a peak of published papers every 3 to 4 years on average.American institutions and authors have more scientific research output and cooperate closely with each other. The results of keyword co-occurrence analysis showed that research hotspots focus on the evaluation of the remote ICUs'application effects(mortality, length of stay, complications, economic costs, etc.)as well as application details(application design, application population, application coverage, etc.);research hotspots changed from only focusing on complications to more health outcomes such as mortality and length of stay;the research hotspots have focused on the remote ICUs'economic benefits and nursing directions in recent years. Conclusions:At present, the rapid development of remote intensive care units in foreign countries can reduce the mortality rate of patients, hospital stay, complications, and make up for the shortage of medical staff resources in intensive care units, medical resources imbalance and other practical problems.Chinese researchers should actively use the advantages of 5G technology to explore and develop a remote intensive care unit model suitable for China's national conditions.
