Abstract:Objective:To investigate the psychological and behavioral responses of stroke patients, and identify the factors that affect their disease risk perception and management ability. Methods:A total of 13 inpatients in the department of neurology from July to December 2023,were selected as subjects for semi-structured interviews using the phenomenological research method in qualitative research. The contents of the interviews were analyzed by Colaizzi 7-step analysis method. Results:The factors promoting the perception and management of stroke patients were positive psychosocial factors, proactive risk management and control in anticipation of the serious consequences of the disease, and positive external support.Factors that hinder stroke patients'perception and management of disease include lack of disease knowledge, uncertainty of medical process and outcome, perceived disease burden, and unmet need for continuity. Conclusions:Improving stroke patients'awareness of disease risk management and their management ability of interventionable behaviors can effectively help patients continue to practice the guidelines for secondary prevention of stroke, and reduce the recurrence rate, disability rate, readmission rate and even mortality rate of stroke patients.
