Abstract:Objective:To systematically evaluate the effect of exercise intervention in improving physical and cognitive functions in elderly people with cognitive decline. Methods:Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of exercise intervention in elderly patients with cognitive decline were retrieved from databases in abroad and at home, such as PubMed,Embase, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),from the establishment of the database to March 2023.After 2 researchers independently conducted literature screening, data extraction and quality assessment,RevMan 5.3 software was used for analysis. Results:A total of 13 articles involving 2 490 patients were included.Meta-analysis results showed that exercise intervention can help improve the level of frailty:EFS score[MD=-0.97,95%CI(-1.30,-0.64,P<0.01)],TUG test in physical activity[MD=-1.07,95%CI(-1.36,-0.78),P<0.01],MoCA score in cognitive function[MD=3.78,95%CI(3.09,4.47,P<0.01)],and FAB score[MD=1.47,95%Cl(0.33,2.62,P=0.01)].Conclusions:Exercise intervention can improve the physical and cognitive functions of elderly people with cognitive decline. However, there is still controversy about the benefits of different exercise intensities for elderly people with cognitive decline, and there is a lack of evidence to fix the optimal exercise intensity.
