Effect of nursing intervention on the prevention of deep venous thrombosis in elderly patients with lower extremity fracture

Abstract:Objective:To explore the effect of early nursing intervention on the prevention of deep venous thrombosis in elderly patientswith lower limb fracture.Methods:One hundred and eighty-two elderly patients with lower limb fractures were randomly divided in-to intervention group and control group, 91 cases in each group.The patients underwent routine nursing in control group, and compre-hensive nursing intervention in intervention group.After the intervention, the level of serum D-dimer and the incidence of deep ve-nous thrombosis were compared at 5 th day after operation between two groups.Results:The serum D-dimer level, the incidence ofdeep vein thrombosis, and hospitalization time in intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group at 5 th dayafter operation.The satisfaction of patient in intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group.Conclusion:Early nursing intervention can effectively reduce the risk factors of deep venous thrombosis, improve the satisfaction of patients andreduce the hospitalization time in elderly patients with lower limb fracture after surgery.
