Application of motivational interview in promoting breast feeding among primiparas with inverted nipples

Abstract：Objective:To probe into the effect of motivational interview in promoting breast feeding among primiparas with inverted nipples.Methods:A total of 90 primiparas with inverted nipples were randomly divided into control group and observation group,45 cases in each group.Primiparas in control group received routine breast feeding guidance,while primiparas in observation group added motivational interviewing technique.The breastfeeding self-efficacy of two groups of primiparas were assessed by using breastfeeding self-efficacy short scale before treatment,at discharge and 6 weeks postpartum back to hospital review ,maternal breastfeeding self-efficacy level and breastfeeding rate in two groups were compared.Results:Before discharge and 6 weeks after postpartum,the scores of Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale and breast feeding rate in observation group were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The motivational interview can significantly improve the breastfeeding self-efficacy and breastfeeding rate of primiparas with inverted nipples,and it is worthy of clinical promotion.
