Study of relationship between hope level and personality traits,negative emotion in patients with primary liver cancer

Abstract：Objective:To probe into the relationship between hope level and personality traits,negative emotion in patients with primary liver cancer.Methods:Levels of hope,personality traits,anxiety and depression of 128 patients with liver cancer were surveyed through Herth Hope Scale,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) from January 2015 to December 2015.The relationship between hope and personality traits and negative emotion in patients with liver cancer were analyzed by Pearson single factor analysis.Results:The all patients were divided into inward-emotional stability type(n=34),inward-emotional instability(n=38),Social-emotional stability type(n=30) and the Social-emotional instability(n=26) according the E-N dimension scores of EPQ.The total score of Herth hope level of patients in inward-emotional stability type and inward-emotional instability was lower than that in Social-emotional stability type and the Social-emotional instability(P<0.05),while the SAS scores,SDS scores of patients in inward-emotional stability type and inward-emotional instability were higher than that in Social-emotional stability type and the Social-emotional instability(P<0.05).Pearson single factor analysis showed that Herth hope level score and P,N dimensions of EPQ,SAS score were negatively correlated with SDS score(P<0.05).Conclusion:There were closely relationship between hope level and personality,anxiety,depression in patients with liver cancer.Nurses should concern about anxiety and depression in patients with liver and comprehensive assess personality traits,in order to develop nursing interventions to improve patients' hope level,anxiety and depression.
