Correlation research between pain and activities of daily living of patients accept PVP orthopedic surgery
Abstract:Objective:To probe into the changes of the pain and activities of daily living of patients before and after accepting PVP and the correlation between them,so as to provide the references for the clinical nursing. Methods:A total of 138 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures who accept PVP surgery were recruited from the orthopedic ward in our institution. They were investigated by using the Visual Analogue Scale and the Barthel index of ADL within 24 hours of admission and 24 hours after surgery.SPSS 17.0 statistical software package was used for descriptive data analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results:Compared with that at 24 hours of admission, pain within 24 hours after surgery was significantly relieved(P=0.000),while activities of daily living was significantly increased(P=0.000).Pearson correlation analysis showed that correlation coefficient between pain and activities of daily living was-0.390(P<0.01),in other words, the lower score of pain, the higher score of activities of daily living.Multiple regression analysis showed that pain could explain 18.3% variation of activities of daily living. Conclusion:PVP orthopedic surgery can significantly relieve pain and improve activities of daily living of patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. There was significant correlation between them.
