Abstract:Objective:To probe into the application effect of different directions of the needle in external jugular vein catheter. Methods:A total of 80 cases of patients with the external jugular vein catheter were randomly di-vided into observation group and control group,40 cases in each. The patients in observation group received the external j ugular vein catheter in the centrifugal direction and the patients in control group received the external j ugular vein catheter in the centripetal direction, then to compare the operation time, disposable puncture success rate, the incidence of complications and venous indwelling time between both groups. Results:Compared with the control group, the average operation time in patients in observation group was obviously less(t=-4.856,P<0.01), disposable puncture success rate was higher(χ2=3.794,P<0.05)and the incidence of complications was lower (χ2=4.242,P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in venous indwelling time between both groups(t=-1.507,P>0.05).Conclusion:The external jugular vein puncture in centrifugal direction was feasi-ble.It could improve puncture success rate, reduce complications and improve the work efficiency.
