The influences of health education on anxiety and postoperative complications in patients with esophageal cancer
Abstract:Objective:To investigate the influences of health education on anxiety and postoperative complica-tions in patients with esophageal cancer.Methods:Ninety six patients undergoing esophageal cancer surgery were randomly divided into two groups:Control group(n=48)received by routine care,and observation group(n=48)received by routine care and health education.The scores of Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS)were eval-uated on the day of admission and discharge.The occurrence of postoperative complications was observed.Re-sults:When patients were discharged,the SAS scores in two groups were lower than the admission.The SAS scores in observation group was lower than that in control group (P < 0.05 ).The incidence of postoperative complication in observation group was lower than that in control group(P <0.05).Conclusion:Health education can reduce anxiety and the incidence of postoperative complications in patients with esophageal cancer.
