Survey and analysis and countermeasures of knowledge,attitude and behavior of low sodium diet among elderly hy-pertensive patients in rural community in Huanjiang county in Guangxi

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the status quo of knowledge,attitude and behavior (KAB)of low sodium di-et among elderly hypertensive patients in rural community in Huanjiang county in Guangxi,analyze the influen-cing factors and put forward the countermeasures.Methods:Multi stage cluster random sampling method was used.A total of 354 hypertension patients over the age of 60 from 3 towns 1 1 villages in Huanjiang county in Guangxi were selected as the research objects.A self designed questionnaire survey was used to investigate the status quo of knowledge,attitude and behavior of low sodium diet.Results:The proportion who accepted low so-dium diet education was 53.1%.The knowing rate of low sodium diet knowledge was low.The proportion of knowing on 4 knowledge items was 14.4%,3.1%,50.8% and 50.8% respectively.The proportion of favor on 4 attitude items was 54.8%,55.1%,56.5% and 58.5%.Low sodium diet behavior was not ideal.The proportion of practice on 4 attitude items was 58.8%,5.4%,9.3% and 58.8%.Multivariate analysis indicated that low so-dium diet education,ethnic,knowledge acquirement,frequency of sauce dish consumption were the influence fac-tors of low sodium diet KAB(both P <0.05).Conclusion:The low sodium diet KAB level was not ideal.It nee-ded to take suitable health education methods for the rural elderly hypertension patients and to take low salt diet KAB intervention.
