The perioperative nursing of elderly fracture patients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:Objective:To summarize perioperative nursing of elderly diabetic patients with fractures.Methods:Fifty fracture patients with diabetes aged over seventy years were enrolled.All patients were treated with strictly control of blood glucose level before operation,and close observation,wound care,monitoring and con-trol blood sugar levels,complications prevention,health education,discharge guidance,follow up and home care after operation.Results:Two patients delayed wound healing,48 cases have reached healing by first intention. Another two cases got concurrent pressure sores,and one case got pulmonary infection.After active treatment and home care after discharge,the patients’fractures and complications were all recovered.Conclusion:A suc-cess perioperative nursing of elderly fracture patients with diabetes should be the insurance of a successful oper-ation.
