Influence of strengthening respiratory tract management on rehabilitation of elderly after thoracic surgery

Abstract:Obj ective:To probe into influence of strengthening respiratory tract management on rehabilitation of the elderly after thoracic surgery. Methods:A total of 100 cases of elderly patients undergoing thoracic sur-gery were randomly divided into control group and observation group,50 ca-ses in each.the patients in control group received the implementation of postoperative routine care,besides that the respiratory tract management was strengthened for patients in observation group,then to compare the postoperative drainage tube indwelling time,duration of analgesia,length of stay and complication rates,quality of life of patients between both groups. Results:The postoperative drainage tube indwelling time,pain,hospitaliza-tion time in observation group were less than that in control group;inci-dence of postoperative pulmonary infection and atelectasis was lower than that in control group;quality of life was better than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05 ).Conclusion:To strengthen respiratory tract management for the elderly after thoracotomy can speed up postoperative rehabilitation process and reduce complications and enhance their quality of life.
