Abstract:Obj ective:To observe the effect of cluster of intervention applied in PICC catheter for very low birth weight children. Methods:A total of very low birth weight children receiving PICC catheter were randomly di-vided into observation group (43 cases)and control group (42 cases).Pa-tients in control group received routine catheter care, patients in observa-tion group received cluster of intervention on the basis of routine catheter care, then to compare and analyze the disposable catheter success rate,com-plications,catheter time and hospital stay of patients between two groups. Results:The success rate of disposable catheters in observation group was higher than that in control group;catheter ectopic rate, incidence of plug-ging and mechanical phlebitis and catheter infection rate were lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Catheterization time in patients in observation group was longer than that in control group, length of stay was less than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05 ).Conclusion:Cluster of intervention can effectively improve the disposable catheter success rate, prolong catheterization time, reduce catheter complications in very low birth weight children, and shorten their hospital stays.
