Investigation on status quo of continuing education for emergency nurses and their demands in Shanxi province

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status quo of continuing educa-tion for emergency nurses and their demands in Shanxi province,so as to develop continuing education better.Methods:Convenience sampling method was used,a total of 146 emergency nurses were investigated on general situation,continuing education status and demands by self ques-tionnaires in 1 1 prefecture level cities in Shanxi province.Results:31.5%emergency nurses indicated the frequency of the continuing education was>1 year/time.56.2% emergency nurses participated in continuing education through short term training classes.Totally 69.2% emergency nurses considered that busy work influenced their participation in continuing ed-ucation.Emergency nurses’demands for continuing education content in the top five were:resuscitation related skills,first aid skills,emergency care of trauma patients,the related theoretical knowledge of the care of acute,critically ill patients,application and management of emergency rescue equipment,goods and drugs.Conclusion:Continuing education of emergency nurses need to be strengthened,the content of continuing edu-cation should be focusing on cultivating nurses’rescue related practical skills.
