Abstract:In order to evaluate the stability of the surrounding rock of deep soft rock roadways by selec-ting appropriate indicators, based on the actual tunnel engineering in the Suzhou mining area of Huai-bei Coalfield, taking the common straight-wall semi-circular arch roadway in the project as an exam-ple,numerical simulation was conducted to analyze the distribution characteristics of loosened zone thickness, surface displacement, and surface displacement gradient in key sections including the vault, arch baseline,mid-sidewalls,and mid-floor of the roadway. These findings were verified through field measurements. The results demonstrate that for deep soft rock roadways, relying solely on loosened zone thickness for stability assessment shows significant limitations.A stronger negative nonlinear correlation exists between surface displacement gradient of surrounding rock and its stability.By adopting surface displacement gradient as an evaluation indicator,it enables effective con-trol of rock bulking within the loosened zone.Maintaining the surface bulking degree within critical al-lowable thresholds ensures the stability of surrounding rock.
