Case study on pre-grouting technology application in kilometer-depth blind shafts through water-rich complex formations

Abstract:In response to the challenges faced during the excavation of the kilometer-level blind shaft in Maoping Mine through complex water-rich strata, including high water inflow, elevated water pressure, intricate geological structures, and significant risks of mud and water inrushes, this study implemented directional drilling pre-grouting treatment technology through comprehensive research methods.By integrating theoretical calculations, numerical analysis, engineering analogy, and field test monitoring, the parameters for directional drilling and grouting processes were rationally deter-mined.Field applications employed S-shaped directional drilling holes and segmented high-pressure grouting techniques.Post-treatment monitoring showed that the residual water inflow in the shaft de-creased from 50 m3/h to 4.83 m3/h,achieving a 90.3%reduction rate.An effective waterproof curtain was successfully constructed around the blind shaft, significantly mitigating the risks of mine water and mud inrushes while ensuring safe shaft excavation. This research achievement fills the domestic technical gap in grouting treatment for kilometer-level complex water-rich strata and provides crucial technical support for water hazard prevention in similar deep mineral resource development projects.
