Abstract:There was a crack water bearing layer in a high angle watery structure at the base rock sec-tion of No.1 main shaft in Macheng Iron Mine. A comprehensive grouting and directional drilling tech-nology were applied to the surface pre-grouting and water sealing and a full success was obtained to provide the experiences for the water disaster control of the iron ore deposit. A net diameter of the mine shaft was 6.5m ,an excavation diameter of the mine shaft was 7.5m and a depth of the mine shaft was 796.5m. A freezing ,grouting and excavation simultaneous construction plan was applied to the mine shaft construction. The grouting operations were conducted with vertical holes and S holes.A depth of the vertical hole grouting section was 355~500m and a depth of the S hole grouting section was 500~964m. The actual construction condition showed that the S type directional drilling technolo-gy applied to the surface pre-grouting and water sealing project of the mine shaft could realize a freez-ing ,grouting and excavation simultaneous construction. T hus the mine construction period could be re-duced and good economic and social benefits could be obtained.
