Observation on the Effect of Levothyroxine Combined with Vitamin B12 in the Treatment of Hypothyroidism

Abstract：Objective: To analyze the effect of levothyroxine combined with vitamin B12 in the treatment of hypothyroidism. Methods: A total of 52 patients with hypothyroidism admitted to our hospital from July 2022 to July 2024 were selected as the study sample. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 26 cases in each group. The control group was treated with levothyroxine, while the observation group was treated with levothyroxine combined with vitamin B12. The treatment effects of the two groups, changes in thyroid function indicators and lipid indicators before and after treatment, and the incidence of adverse drug reactions were compared. Results: In the comparison of total effective rates between the two groups, the observation group reached 96.15%, while the control group was 69.23% (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in FT3, TSH, and FT4 levels between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, the FT3 and FT4 levels of both groups increased compared to before treatment, while TSH levels decreased. Moreover, the FT3 and FT4 levels of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the TSH level was lower (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was little difference in TC, TG, LDL-C, and HDL-C levels between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, when compared with the control group, the TC, TG, and LDL-C levels of the observation group were lower, while the HDL-C level was higher (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of levothyroxine and vitamin B12 for the treatment of hypothyroidism can help improve lipid metabolism, enhance thyroid function, and achieve satisfactory therapeutic effects, with good drug safety.
