ZHOU Zaiqin
Abstract:Objective: To explore the treatment methods for chronic bronchitis combined with emphysema in the elderly. Methods: A total of 80 elderly patients with chronic bronchitis combined with emphysema admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to September 2023 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into the study group and the control group using a single-double number method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with doxofylline, while the study group received cefotaxime in addition to doxofylline. The treatment effectiveness rate, time to symptom improvement, and pulmonary function indicators were compared between the two groups. Results: The treatment effectiveness rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05); the time to symptom improvement in the study group was shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in pulmonary function indicators between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, the pulmonary function indicators of the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The application of cefotaxime combined with doxofylline in the treatment of chronic bronchitis combined with emphysema in the elderly is beneficial for improving lung function and alleviating symptoms of emphysema.
