Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of moxibustion with medicinal cake in postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in orthopedic surgery. Methods: A total of 120 patients who were hospitalized in our hospital's foot and ankle trauma orthopedic department from May 2023 to April 2024 and underwent combined spinal-epidural anesthesia surgery with PONV were selected. They were randomly divided into observation group and control group using a random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. After surgery, the control group received routine intervention measures, while the observation group received moxibustion with medicinal cake. The occurrence of PONV, patient satisfaction, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: Within 2-4 hours after intervention, the total incidence rate of PONV in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Between 5-24 hours and 25-48 hours after intervention, the total incidence rate of PONV in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The total satisfaction rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence rate of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05), and all could be resolved after symptomatic treatment. Conclusion: Moxibustion with medicinal cake can effectively improve PONV symptoms in patients after fracture surgery, and this method is safe, effective, and highly satisfactory.
