Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effects of low-dose ambroxol oral solution on sputum viscosity and expectoration in children with human rhinovirus infection. Methods A total of 300 children with human rhinovirus infection admitted to our hospital from September 2023 to April 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 150 cases in each group. The control group received routine symptomatic treatment, while the observation group was given low-dose ambroxol oral solution on top of the control group's treatment. The sputum viscosity and expectoration conditions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the sputum viscosity of both groups decreased significantly, and the observation group had lower sputum viscosity than the control group (P<0.05). The expectoration time in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Low-dose ambroxol oral solution has significant clinical efficacy in alleviating sputum viscosity and improving expectoration in children with human rhinovirus infection, and it is worth promoting in clinical practice.
