Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of metronidazole combined with cefazolin as an adjuvant to laparoscopic surgery for appendicitis. Methods A total of 200 patients with appendicitis who were treated at Wuxi No.8 People's Hospital from June 2019 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a blind selection method, with 100 cases in each group. The control group was given metronidazole as an adjuvant treatment, while the observation group received metronidazole combined with cefazolin. The clinical efficacy, postoperative recovery conditions, levels of inflammatory factors, and total incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). After surgery, the time for symptom resolution in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of inflammatory factors in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Postoperative adjuvant therapy with metronidazole combined with cefazolin in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery for appendicitis shows definite efficacy, which can reduce inflammatory markers and decrease postoperative adverse reactions.
