Evaluation of Therapeutic Effect of Amlodipine Besylate Tablets on Elderly Patients with Hypertension

Abstract：Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of amlodipine besylate tablets in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods Seventy-two elderly patients with hypertension admitted to our hospital from January 2022 to June 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, each with 36 cases. The control group was treated with nifedipine sustained-release tablets, while the experimental group was treated with amlodipine besylate tablets. The therapeutic effects, blood pressure levels, cardiac and renal functions, and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results The effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the blood pressure levels of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the cardiac and renal functions of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Amlodipine besylate tablets used in the clinical treatment of elderly patients with hypertension can improve the therapeutic effect, reduce blood pressure levels, improve cardiac and renal functions, and help reduce adverse reactions.
