Abstract:Erythema nodosum(EN)is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by symmetrical, painful subcutaneous nodules primarily on the lower limbs. Its etiology is complex.Modern medicine often employs treatments such as hormones and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which can provide short-term symptomatic relief but are associated with numerous adverse effects and a high recurrence rate.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)offers unique advantages in treating EN,demonstrating significant potential, particularly in regulating the overall constitution and reducing recurrence.Based on the"heat toxin damaging the collaterals"theory and incorporating clinical case studies, this paper explores the clinical approach of using a modified Simiao Yong'an Decoction with stage-based pattern differentiation for EN.It highlights the treatment strategy of"administering medicine based on disease stage and simultaneously addressing toxin and stasis,"aiming to provide a new clinical reference for TCM in the treatment of this disease.
