Clinical Application of Non-absorbable Suture 'Cross' Fixation Under Arthroscopic Assistance for Tibial Spine Fractures
Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical effectiveness of non-absorbable suture 'cross' fixation under arthroscopic assistance for tibial spine fractures. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 12 patients with tibial spine fractures admitted to the Department of Orthopedics at Beijing Friendship Hospital and its Pinggu Branch from March 2020 to November 2024. Five patients were treated with suture anchor fixation under arthroscopic assistance and enrolled in the control group; seven patients were treated with Ethibond Excel polyester suture ('cross') fixation under arthroscopic assistance and enrolled in the observation group. The Lysholm knee score, International Knee Documentation Committee 2000 (IKDC 2000) score, Lachman test, and range of motion of the knee joint were compared between the two groups before surgery, and at 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery. Additionally, the fracture healing time, surgical time, hospitalization duration, and complication rates were compared. Results At 3 and 6 months post-surgery, the Lysholm scores and IKDC 2000 scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (t=-6.507, -3.962, -3.771, -4.204, P<0.05). The positive rate of the Lachman test was lower in the observation group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences (χ2=4.800, 5.143, P<0.05). At 3, 6, and 12 months post-surgery, the knee extension and flexion of the observation group were better than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (t=14.643, 28.901, 3.324, -9.562, -3.486, -3.336, P<0.05). The fracture healing time, surgical time, and hospitalization duration of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (t=3.472, 3.333, 2.083, P<0.05). Conclusion The non-absorbable suture 'cross' fixation under arthroscopic assistance for tibial spine fractures can improve knee joint function to some extent, promote postoperative recovery, and has no obvious complications.
