Analysis of the value of IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2,and HBP in the assessment of the condition and prognosis of patients with active tuberculosis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the value of interleukin-2(IL-2),interleukin-10(IL-10),human β-defensin 2(HBD-2),and heparin-binding protein(HBP)in the condition and prognostic assessment of patients with active tuberculosis(ATB),and to provide a reference basis for early diagnosis and treatment and prognostic assessment of this disease.Methods 212 cases of patients with ATB admitted to the Heilongjiang Infectious Disease Control Hospital from January 2022 to April 2024 were selected as the ATB group,and were divided into the mild group(67 cases),the moderate group(113 cases),and the severe group(32 cases)according to the condition of the patients,and the patients in the ATB group all received standardized treatment for 6 months(2 HREZ∕4 HR regimen),and there were no cases of lost visits.They were divided into the group with good prognosis(61 cases)and the group with poor prognosis(151 cases)by the prognosis of the patients.The levels of serum IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2,HBP of each group were compared,and the good and poor prognosis groups were included as negative and positive,respectively,and the predictive value of serum IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2,and HBP alone and in combination on the prognosis of patients with ATB was analyzed by plotting the subjects'work characteristic curves(ROC)to obtain the area under the curve(AUC).Results Serum levels of IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2,and HBP showed a gradual incremental trend among the three groups:mild group,moderate group,and severe group(P<0.05).Serum levels of IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2,and HBP were higher in the poor prognosis group compared to the good prognosis group(P<0.05).ROC analysis showed that the AUC value of serum IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2,and HBP combined test for predicting a poor prognosis in patients with ATB was 0.929,which was higher than the AUC value of each index alone(0.795,0.728,0.762,0.767,P<0.05).Conclusion Serum levels of IL-2,IL-10,HBD-2 and HBP were related to the condition and prognosis of patients with ATB,and the combined detection of these four indicators yields a higher predictive value for the prognosis of patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis.
