Retrospective Study on the Treatment of Posterior Elbow Dislocation with the Single-Handed Instant Reduction Technique
Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of the single-handed instant reduction technique for the treatment of posterior elbow dislocation. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 118 outpatients diagnosed with posterior elbow dislocation at the outpatient department of Chengdu Bayi Orthopedic Hospital from September 2022 to September 2024. The patients were divided into two groups based on different reduction methods: the observation group (62 cases) received the single-handed instant reduction technique, while the control group (56 cases) received the traditional two-person traction and flexion elbow method. Clinical characteristics of the two groups were analyzed, and the success rate of reduction and the excellent and good rate of joint function after reduction were compared. Results: The total effective rate of reduction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (x2=6.705, P<0.05). The excellent and good rate of elbow joint function in the observation group was also higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (x2=6.356, P<0.05). The observation group also showed better performance in terms of pain score reduction and reduction time, with statistically significant differences (Z=-3.508, -9.354, P<0.05). Conclusion: The single-handed instant reduction technique for elbow dislocation has advantages such as good clinical efficacy, low reduction pain, and short reduction time, and provides a new method and idea for the reduction treatment of posterior elbow dislocation.
