Research Progress on Acupuncture of the Eight Liao Points in the Treatment of Bladder Dysfunction
Abstract:Bladder dysfunction, also known as bladder dysfunction disorder, clinically refers to the coordination disorder of the detrusor muscle contraction, impaired bladder sensory function, and micturition reflex function, leading to symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, dysuria, incomplete voiding, urinary incontinence, urinary retention, and urinary hesitation. Common treatments include urethral sphincter contraction training, pharmacological treatment with traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and surgical treatment for severe cases [1]. However, the efficacy is difficult to meet the expectations of patients and their families. Acupuncture is an important technique in the treatment of diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture can regulate bladder function by stimulating the eight liao points, which helps to relieve spasm of the pelvic floor muscle group and urethral sphincter, thereby showing significant effects in treating symptoms such as urgency, frequent urination, and urinary retention [2]. Moreover, it is safe with fewer adverse reactions.
