Analysis of the Effect of Vaginal Lactobacillus on the Treatment of HPV Infection and Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia
Abstract：Objective: To analyze the effect of vaginal lactobacillus on the treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted. According to strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, 68 patients with HPV infection and CIN who did not receive vaginal lactobacillus treatment from September 2020 to February 2024 at Xiaolan People's Hospital (Fifth People's Hospital) of Zhongshan City were selected as the control group, while 68 patients treated with vaginal lactobacillus during the same period were selected as the observation group. The treatment duration for both groups ranged from 1 to 12 months. The vaginal microecological indicators, pathogenic bacteria conditions, vaginal cleanliness, DNA ploidy quantitative analysis, HPV testing, and Thinprep Cytologic Test (TCT) results were compared before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the observation group showed higher normal rates of vaginal pH, negative sialidase, negative hydrogen peroxide, and negative leukocyte esterase compared to the control group; lower positive rates of bacterial vaginosis (BV) and mixed bacteria were observed in the observation group; vaginal cleanliness was better in the observation group; the positive rates of DNA ploidy quantitative analysis, HPV testing, and TCT were lower in the observation group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Adding vaginal lactobacillus treatment to routine antiviral therapy can improve the vaginal microecological environment and cleanliness, and inhibit disease progression in patients with HPV infection and CIN.
