Effect of Xuesaitong Injection on Neurocytokines in Elderly Patients with Acute Cerebral Infarction
Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of Xuesaitong injection on neurocytokines in elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI). Methods A prospective single-center controlled trial was conducted. A total of 102 elderly ACI patients who received basic treatment (including routine oxygen therapy, anticoagulation, antiplatelet therapy, lipid regulation, nutritional therapy, vasodilation, and improved circulation) combined with alteplase and Xuesaitong injection were enrolled in the Xuesaitong group (n=102). Another 102 elderly ACI patients who received basic treatment and alteplase were enrolled in the alteplase group (n=102) according to a 1:1 ratio. The treatment duration for both groups was 10 days. The neurological deficit degree, motor function, daily living ability, inflammatory response, and neurocytokines were compared before and after 10 days of treatment, as well as the efficacy after 10 days of treatment and safety during the treatment period. Results After 10 days of treatment, the levels of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), serum amyloid A (SAA), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) decreased in both groups compared to before treatment, with statistically significant differences (t=11.668, 11.518, 9.738, 12.500, 18.460, 6.345, P<0.05). After 10 days of treatment, the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and Barthel Index (BI) scores, as well as the serum nerve growth factor (NGF) level, increased in both groups, with statistically significant differences (t=12.266, 24.434, 7.092, P<0.05). After 10 days of treatment, the total effective rate of the Xuesaitong group was higher than that of the alteplase group (92.16% vs. 76.47%), with a statistically significant difference (x2=9.488, P<0.05). During the treatment period, there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (x2=1.005, P>0.05). Conclusion Xuesaitong injection can improve neurological deficits in elderly ACI patients, enhance motor function and daily living ability, which may be related to its regulation of inflammatory responses and neurocytokines. It has an accurate therapeutic effect and good safety.
