Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of limbal relaxing with three different lengths of incision during phacoemulsification in the treatment of patients with cataract complicated with corneal astigmatism. Methods 103 patients with cataract and corneal astigmatism who received treatment in the hospital were enrolled from February 2021 to February 2024,and were divided into group A(n=35),group B(n=38)and group C(n=30)according to the different incision lengths. The above three groups performed limbal relaxing during phacoemulsification with 2 mm,2.5 mm and 3 mm incisions respectively. The surgically induced astigmatism, corneal astigmatism, corrected visual acuity and uncorrected visual acuity after surgery, corneal endothelial cell count before and after surgery and occurrence of complications were compared among the three groups. Results The surgically induced astigmatism and corneal astigmatism were manifested as group A<group B<group C(P<0.05).There was no obvious difference in corneal endothelial cell count among the three groups before and after surgery(P>0.05).The corneal endothelial cell count was lower in the tree groups after surgery than before surgery(P<0.05).The postoperative corrected visual acuity and uncorrected visual acuity revealed significant differences among the three groups(P>0.05).The total incidence rate of complications revealed group A<group B<group C(P<0.05).Conclusion Small limbal relaxing incision during phacoemulsification can improve the corneal astigmatism, and reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications in cataract patients with corneal astigmatism, and it will not affect the therapeutic effect.
