Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation of intrinsic capacity decline with insomnia, body' s nutritional status and low-grade inflammation in elderly inpatients. Methods The clinical case data of 248 elderly inpatients in the hospital were retrospectively analyzed from June 2022 to November 2023.The intrinsic capacity and sleep status[Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)]were assessed, and the levels of serum albumin(ALB),prealbumin(PAB),interleukin(IL-1)and tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α)were detected. The differences in sleep status, nutritional status and chronic low-grade inflammatory factors were compared among patients with different intrinsic capacities.Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between intrinsic capacity and insomnia, nutritional loss and chronic low-grade inflammation in patients. Results The levels of serum ALB and PAB in patients with internal capacity loss were significantly lower than those in patients with good internal capacity(t=8.512,5.130,P<0.05)while the levels of IL-1 and TNF-a and PSQI score were significantly higher(t=6.981,8.100,12.642,P<0.05).The intrinsic capacity score of patients was negatively correlated with serum ALB and PAB levels(r=-0.758,-0.698,P<0.05),and was positively correlated with IL-1 and TNF-α levels and PSQI score(r=0.485,0.587,0.599,P<0.05).Conclusion The intrinsic capacity of elderly inpatients is closely related to sleep quality, body' s nutritional loss and chronic low-grade inflammation. Therefore, actively improving the sleep quality and nutritional status and eliminating the chronic low-grade inflammation in clinical treatment can help prevent the loss of intrinsic capacity.
