Abstract:Objective To observe the effectiveness of conventional doses of alendronate sodium in treating postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)patients with type 2 diabetes and its effect on glucose metabolism. Methods Postmenopausal osteoporosis patients who visited the hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 were recruited.Forty-five patients without type 2 diabetes were included in the PMOP group. The patients with type 2 diabetes were randomly divided into two groups,T2DM-A group and T2DM-B group, with 45 cases in each group. All three groups took calcium and vitamin D orally. On this basis, the PMOP group took alendronate sodium orally. The usage and dosage of alendronate sodium in the T2DM-A group were the same as in the PMOP group.Metformin was used to control blood sugar according to the doctor' s orders of relevant departments. The T2DM-B group was not given alendronate sodium, and the rest was the same as the T2DM-A group. The bone mineral density(BMD)of the lumbar vertebrae and femoral neck of the patients was compared before and after 12 months of treatment. The levels of osteocalcin(OC),Beta-1 collagen cross-linked C-terminal peptide(β-CTX),and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc)were compared among the three groups before treatment and after 12 months of treatment, and the fasting blood glucose(FBG),Fasting insulin(Fins)were calculated. The incidence of adverse reactions was compared. Results After 12 months, there was a significant difference in BMD of lumbar spine among the three groups(F=2.715,P=0.047).After treatment, the OC and β-CTX levels of PMOP group and T2DM-A group were significantly lower than those before treatment, and there was no significant difference in T2DM-B group before and after treatment. After treatment, the FBG of the T2DM-A group(6.12±0.81)was lower than that of the same group before treatment(6.97±0.61)and the T2DM-B group(6.95±0.83)(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For postmenopausal osteoporosis patients with type 2 diabetes, combined use of alendronate sodium can achieve better therapeutic effects, and under the condition of good blood sugar control, the dosage of alendronate sodium is the same as that of non-diabetic PMOP patients.
