Clinical observation on treatment of long head of biceps brachii tendonitis by acupuncture at acupoint Tianzong with Cang Gui Tan Xue needling technique

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture at acupoint Tianzong to stimulate qi extending affected parts on biceps tendinitis and discuss its mechanism.Methods A total of 62 patients with biceps longhead tendinitis who were admitted to the Department of Acupuncture and moxibustion,Beijing Shijitan Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from June 2021 to June 2022 were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,each with 31 cases.Observe the major symptom score and VAS of the two groups of patients before and after treatment.Results After treatment,the major symptom score and VAS of both groups decreased,and the decrease of major symptom score was more significant in the treatment group(2.00±1.15)than in the control group(2.65±1.40),(P<0.05),while VAS was more significant in the treatment group(2.29±1.35)than in the control group(2.97±1.62),(P<0.05).The effective rate of treatment group was 87.1%(27/31),which was higher than that of control group 64.5%(20/31)(P<0.05).Conclusion to stimulate qi extending affected parts by Cang Gui Tan Xue needling technique to acupuncture at Tianzong has therapeutic effect on the pain and dysfunction of biceps tendinitis.Qi extending affected parts may be related to abnormal nerve impulse caused by abnormal fascia tension.
