Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of benefit finding between health resilience and fear of disease progression in patients with lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Methods A total of 288 patients with lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy from February 2021 to February 2023 were prospectively selected by convenience sampling method, including 154 males and 134 females, aged 32-75 years. The general situation questionnaire, fear of disease progression scale, health hardiness scale and benefit finding scale were used to conduct the questionnaire survey. Results The benefit finding scale score of lung cancer chemotherapy patients was(42.36±12.15)points,the health hardiness scale score was(116.36±18.26)points,and the fear of disease progression simplified scale score was(38.64±11.24)points.The health resilience of patients with lung cancer chemotherapy was negatively correlated with fear of disease progression(r=-0.560,P<0.001),and positively correlated with benefit finding(r=0.490,P<0.001).Fear of disease progression was negatively correlated with benefit finding(r=-0.612,P<0.001).The results of multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that fear of disease progression, benefit finding, family per capita monthly income, gender and pathological stage were the influencing factors of health resilience score in patients with lung cancer chemotherapy(P<0.05).Benefits found that there was a significant mediating effect between health resilience and fear of disease progression in patients with lung cancer chemotherapy, and the mediating effect accounted for 26.70% of the total effect. Conclusion The fear of disease progression and benefit finding in patients with lung cancer chemotherapy can directly affect health resilience, and the fear of disease progression can also indirectly affect health resilience through the mediating effect of benefit finding.
