To explore the therapeutic effect of butylphthalein combined with ginkgo biloba in elderly patients with vascular dementia based on IL-6,SOD and NSE levels

Abstract：Objective To investigate the impact of the combination of butylphthalide and Ginkgo biloba on the levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and neuron-specific enolase(NSE)in elderly patients with vascular dementia.Methods 116 patients with senile vascular dementia who were treated in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were selected for prospective study.All patients were randomly divided into control group and observation group,58 cases in each group.Control group was treated with butylphthalein,observation group was treated with butylphthalein combined with ginkgo biloba leaves.The clinical efficacy,IL-6,SOD,NSE levels,cognitive function,activity of life and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results There was no difference in the general data between the two groups(P>0.05).Post-treatment,both groups exhibited reduced levels of IL-6 and NSE,while SOD levels increased.Specifically,the observation group showed a more significant decrease in IL-6 and NSE levels,and a more pronounced increase in SOD levels(t=3.729,4.694,4.963,P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of MMSE and Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA)in both groups were increased,and the MMSE and MoCA scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(t=9.497,4.609,P=0.000).After treatment,the scores of Activities of daily living scale(ADL)of both groups were increased,and the ADL scores of observation group were significantly increased(t=30.342,P=0.000).The total incidence of adverse reactions in observation group(1.72%)was lower than that in control group(13.79%),and the difference was statistically significant(t=4.223,P=0.040).Conclusion Ginkgo biloba combined with butylphthalein has significant effects in the treatment of elderly patients with vascular dementia,which can reduce inflammation and oxidation reaction,improve cognitive function,increase SOD and NSE levels,reduce IL-6 levels,and further improve patients'life activity ability,which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
