Expert Consensus on the Applicable Population Classification of Functional Impairment and Clinical Usability Matching for Intelligent Wheelchairs
Abstract：As an assistive mobility device, intelligent wheelchairs are suitable for patients with walking function disorders and those who are bedridden for a long time, aiming to improve the self-care ability of the elderly and people with disabilities and rebuild their confidence in life. In recent years, intelligent wheelchair technology has been continuously developing, with diversified interaction methods and further enriched auxiliary functions. With the increasing application of intelligent wheelchairs among people with disabilities, it is necessary to standardize and provide recommendations for the design and application of intelligent wheelchairs in China. This consensus summarizes and formulates guidelines on control methods, auxiliary functions, classification of functional impairments in applicable populations, and clinical usability matching of intelligent wheelchairs, based on the current development status of intelligent wheelchair technology and the characteristics of the target population, through expert consultation and expert group discussions, in order to provide guidance for the research and development and application of intelligent wheelchairs.
