Abstract:Objective To compare the application effect of compound pico sodium sulfate granules and compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte dispersion in intestinal preparation for colonoscopy. Methods A total of 110 patients who underwent colonoscopy in the Department of Gastroenterology at our hospital from March 2022 to October 2023 were selected. They were assigned to the polyethylene glycol group and the sodium picosulfate group using the random number table method, with 55 patients in each group. In the polyethylene glycol group, compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder was used for bowel preparation. In the sodium picosulfate group, compound sodium picosulfate granules was used for bowel preparation.Satisfaction with bowel cleaning, colonoscopy related indicators, electrolyte levels after medication, comfort level of bowel preparation, and the incidence rates of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total satisfaction rate of bowel cleaning in the sodium picosulfate group was higher than that in the polyethylene glycol group(χ2=4.949,P<0.05).Compared to the polyethylene glycol group, the endoscope duration of colonoscopy in the sodium picosulfate group was shorter. The amount of normal saline used for rinse in the sodium picosulfate group was smaller(t=7.409,6.087,P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the levels of Na+,K+and Ca2+between the two groups after medication(P>0.05).The bowel preparation comfort of the sodium picosulfate group was better than that of the polyethylene glycol group(Z=6.031,P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the sodium picosulfate group during bowel preparation(4.08%)was lower than that in the polyethylene glycol group(16.33%)(χ2=3.960,P<0.05).Conclusion Compound sodium picosulfate granules can achieve better effects than compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder in bowel preparation. The former is more conducive to improving cleaning effect, shortening the duration of colonoscopy and improving comfort level of medication.Besides,it is safer.
