Analysis on status quo of overweight or obesity with metabolic disease indicators in PLA officers in Beijing

Abstract:Objective This study investigated BMI of PLA officers in Beijing,and analyzed the correlations of some metabolic disease indicators with overweight or obesity,so as to provide the basis for them to prevent cardiovascular diseases and chronic metabolic diseases. Methods 3,620 PLA 0fficers under physical examination physical examination from 2014 to 2016 were tested with cross-sectional study. Non-conditional multifactor binary logistic regression analysis applied with correlation analysis on age, gender, dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension and hyperuricemia with overweight or obesity was carried out. Results The overall morbidity of overweight or obesity comes to 59.6%. The data of males and females were respectively 67.9% and 33.1%,with the former significantly higher than the latter(P<0.01). The morbidity of overweight or obesity in those who suffer from dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension and hypeluricemia was significantly higher than those without these diseases (P < 0.01). The gender, dyslipidemia,hyperglycemia,hypertension and hyperuricemia of the officers were associated with overweight or obesity (P < 0.01). Conclusion The overweight or obesity morbidity of males is significantly higher than that in females, and it's of great significance to control the BMI for preventing chronic diseases and chronic metabolic diseases.
